2019 RACE FORMAT CHANGES TWO PRO MOD FIELDS
The NEOPMA has always been an innovator and looking to improve our program so as to increase membership, racer attendance as well as spectator excitement / attendance. This new club Two Field Pro Mod Format is designed to enhance our parity corner stone and address the above items.
Here is how it will work:
The NEOPMA will run its normal test sessions and qualifying rounds. When the final 16 cars have qualified, two Pro Mod 8 car fields will be created (Pro Mod Elite and Pro Mod). Top 8 cars will compete against one another as will the second field (1 runs 8, 9 runs 16).
Their will be two separate pay outs, two separate points pools as well as separate awards.
- TWO FIELD BENEFITS:
- 1. One less round of Eliminations ( less wear & tear )
- 2. Safer track conditions ( less dew on track )
- 3. Complete events and Earlier ending
- 4. Two Winners and Runner Ups
- 5. Two Points Pools
- 6. Larger member base
- 7. Larger overall Pay Outs
Sandbagging will not be tolerated. Anyone caught will lose that round and will not be allowed to attend the next race. Continued Intentional sandbagging may result in club expulsion. UNINTENTIONAL sandbagging (poor qualifying but finds the problem in Eliminations) will be allowed a one- and one-half tenths (.015) variance FROM THE NUMBER 9 QUALIFYING TIME.
If one of the cars breaks in Pro Mod Elite after a ladder is established but before first round of eliminations, then an alternate will be selected to fill the empty slot. Should we not have alternates then the slowest car in Pro Mod will be added as an alternate and race with the first tier.
Incremental Club Cost are estimated to be $17-19,000 so we are eliminating the points pay outs and increasing the annual fees to cover part of the cost.
Points will be awarded normally for the Pro Mod Elite and half value for Pro Mod. Both fields will receive equal club awards to the number two points winner.
