Jim Halsey and the Cecil team did a great job of prepping the track. The Yellow Bullet Nationals race was very well run, on time very efficient. The crowds were super, the racers laid down some great numbers.
Our friend and NEOPMA brother Matt Dietsch crash due to a broken rear wheel. Matt junior was on a pass when his rear wheel broke causing him to crash into the wall and flipping the car. Thank God he is okay, but the car has some repairable damage. The rest of our club members did extremely well.
I am Very Proud of the performance of our members. The NEOPMA attendance had 12 cars out of the 22 cars in Pro Mod field. In addition, we had 9 cars qualify but Matt crashed so we had 8 cars in eliminations. It gets better… Jay Cox (3.63), Melanie Salemi (3.66), Jim Halsey (3.67) and Mike Acharbach (3.69) in qualifying but a combination of skill and luck resulted in our guys winning the race. Remember we are a quarter mile association, but our guys seem to be able to hang out in the 1/8-mile arena. FYI here are some fun number…Hard, Marinis, Ulsch, McCurdy, Norris ran in the 3.60s to 3.70s. Other fast cars struggled with racing gremlins.
The semis round was entirely an NEOPMA field. In the prior rounds Tyler Hard beat Jim Halsey, Jay Cox lost to Kevin McCurdy, Joe Dunne was beaten by Dean Marinis and Chuck Ulsch beat Melanie Salemi. WHAT GREAT RACING. So, Tyler, Kevin, Dean and Chuck were in the semifinals. In the next round Chuck fouled against Tyler, and Kevin beat Dean (broken Trans).
In the finals it was an all Hard Team with Tyler and Kevin fighting (mano a mano) translation = hand to hand with Tyler winning. CONRATULATION’S Hard Racing Team and NEOPMA. Great Job.
See you at Capitol on September 13th and 14th.
Regards, John
