(Long Island, NY. February 19th 2018) Now entering its 26th year as the longest running Outlaw Pro Mod Association, the NEOPMA series has put in place a few new options, rules changes and dynamics to broaden our base and see that everyone has a place to race with this iconic club. The club spec’d out a survey at the end of the 25th season looking for more options, and the racers answered. We believe we’ve made ENORMOUS changes to provide everyone with fast, close racing that you don’t get to see on a regular basis at some of the safest and easy to reach tracks in the Mid-Atlantic States.
But first we have to recognize that last year saw many records set, of notability would be Ed Burnley’s Nitrous shot heard round the world, 5.73 @ 231 on a typically prepped NEOPMA track event at The New Capitol Raceway. Earlier in the year at Maryland International Raceway, Tommy “The Undertaker” Gray and his team were on a string all weekend until finally plastering a 5.72 @ 245 on the boards giving them the NEOPMA supercharged / boosted record. We can’t be happier for these teams; they have been solid performers with NEOPMA for so many years. We also can’t forget the tracks and the preparation for our racers.
So with that said, 2018 now will be, bigger cubes, crazier blower combinations (Screws Now Allowed), larger turbos and another year calling out the Pro Imports. Come with us, follow us this year. See the newest cool stuff below.
1. Booked only 8 events at 4 tracks (2 MIR, 2 Capitol, 2 Maple Grove, 2 Atco). We could have booked up to 12 but held back based on survey.
2. Will count the top 7 races towards points Championship. One absentee permitted. Extra 50 points for full attendance.
3. Quarter mile races and 16 car fields. All points races.
4. Consolation Races at each event for 1st round losers at no charge to the racer or track (assuming enough cars). Payouts ($500 to 1,000 attendances dependent)
5. Will increase media coverage (online, live feed and press) Door Slammers Plus, Steve from RacingVids, Tara will be providing coverage at 5 or more of our events. Mark Tinari is healthy again and will be continuing his Pics, Flyer and RPM support. We are hoping that Vito will help as well.
7. CHANGED some of the rules to increase our membership base while maintaining Parity. The NEOPMA now allows Screw blowers with some restrictions. We allow bigger Nitrous motors (up to 960 ci) with additional weight and reduced the weight for smaller motors as well as non-lock up converters, For Turbo non Hemi motors (wedge head and old Hemis) we allow larger turbos (up to 94 mm). We have a club official who will be monitoring all cars for rules compliance.
8 We Are Maintaining Standard pay outs as they were. MIR Pay outs will increase for winner ($7,000 vs 5,000) and runner up ($2,000 vs 1,500).
9. Will add Pro Mod Imports to 4 of our year end races through the efforts of Vinnie Ten.
