The Threat of Rain Was Scary but we still had 15 attendees.
Wow!!! What a weekend race. Yes, that’s right even though there was intermittent rain we got it in. Royce and his team did an amazing job of prepping the track (KILLER TRACTION). The air was mine shaft and guys who came to race really put on a show. Here is what happened:
Friday was a wash out and because the weather forecast for Saturday was at best mixed, we decide to compress the race. Saturday, we had two qualifiers resulting in 14 of the 15 cars making it down the track with records being broken.
The Pro Mod Elite field started the activities. The King / Pilot / Miller team ran a blistering 5.62 @ 259 mph, with Dave Norris (5.66 @251 mph) and Fred Scriba (5.67@250 mph) not far behind claiming he can go faster. Tom Gray and Chuck Ulsch not far behind with both at 5.70 and Ed Burnley (5.83), Matt Dietsch (5.91) and Jim Bersani (5.93) into the hunt.
The Pro Mod field is becoming a real success story. I received lots of complements from fans. The performance was outstanding with Casey Stemper (5.97), Nick Montana, Steve Drummond, Vince Forcade, Dwayne Wolfe and Gary Hood all suffering with First Day Blues and still doing a great job So to summarize we qualified 8 cars for Pro Mod Elite and 6cars for Pro Mod. The threat of rain kept at least 5 additional cars from attending. We had 9 cars running in the 5.62 to 5.97 range and at least 3 more cares able to run in the 5 second range.
Eliminations Pro Mod Elite Results:
Round One … Steve King /Pilot / Miller Team (5.63) beat Bersani (5.92). Both had great hole shots. Chuck Ulsch (5.75) lost to Tom Gray’s best (5.69). Not bad when you consider Chuck hasn’t driven quarter mile in 8 years and Tom had transmission problems. Both told me that they can probably run 5.65. Dave Norris sucked a valve and lost to Matt
Dietsch. Fred Scriba got violent tire shake and lost to Ed Burnley (5.82)
Round Two … Tom Gray blew the tires with tire shake while Steve King ran an all-out 5.61 @ 260.Matt Dietsch also got tire shake and lost to Ed Burnley easy 6.97.
Round Three Held on Sunday after morning rain. Steve King 5.77 takes the win and defeated Ed Burnley red light.
BEFORE YOU ASK … we will be making some changes to screw blowers and others as needed to achieve parity.
Eliminations Pro Mod Results:
Round One … Casey Stemper (5.88 and great light) beat Gary Hood thereby getting the bye in round two. Dwayne Wolfe struggling all day with his
new, gorgeous car won as the Nick Montana / Tomasina / Junior car suffered engine problems. Steve Drummond lost at the lights to Vince
Forcade / ATI car
Round Two … Casey Stemper ((6.08) had a bye Dwayne Wolfe problem persisted and lost to Vince Forcade / ATI car.
Round Three … Casey Stemper hurt the engine during the bye run and was unable to fix it, so Vince Forcade / ATI took the win.
