Steve King Champion of NEOPMA at Atco Xtreme Outlaws

Thank you to the Atco team for their warm hospitality and track prep.

The weather was good, the track and people were super, the cars were fast, and the racer attendance was fair. Only 14 cars showed up even though 17 were committed. Very disappointing. What made it worse is that we had several mishaps … Tony Morrell ran off the end of the track, Vinny Budano hurt his motor, as did Matt Dietsch and Nick Montana. Vinny was unable to fix his engine while Matt put in his spare engine and Nick had electrical issues that could not be solved.

QUALIFYING
Only 13 cars made it to qualifying with some our top guys (Scriba, Montana and Dunne) had issues and did not do well. On the positive side the Pilot / King / Miller team ran and astounding 5.61 @ 261.78 MPH, the Bell / Stevens team ran (5.77 @ 257.38) Chuck Ulsch ran 5.78 @ 244 and Andy Jensen ran and easy 5.82 @ 215 lifting early.

So, we ended up with 8 cars in PME and 4 cars in PM. Budano and Morrell were unable to make it to Eliminations.

ELIMINATIONS

PRO MOD ELITE Round 1
Bell / Stevens team (5.78 @ 256) beat Matt Dietsch who broke on the line.
Chuck Ulsch (6.24 @ 236) defeated the Hard team who had problems early on with their new combination.
Andy Jensen broke a valve (7.86 @ 113) but managed to win against Montana / Harrell team who broke on the line
Pilot / King / Miller team ran an easy 5.71@ 248 beating Dwayne Taylor 6.83 @ 205

Round 2;
Carl Stevens (5.77 @ 257) lost to Chuck Ulsch (5.78 @ 244) in a door to door race. Super Drag Race.
Andy Jensen couldn’t make it to the line, so King had an easy win

Round 3 Finals:
This was a classic drag race. Chuck Ulsch stepped it up (5.69 @ 247) cut a great light but lost to Steve King’s 5.66 @260 mph by .0012 of a second. Wow!!!

Eliminations: Pro Mod Round 1
Joe Dunne ran a 6.11 beating Gary Hood. Despite continuous tire shake problems Fred Scriba beat Mike Pollaro.

Round 2 Finals:
Scriba had traction problems and didn’t make it to the line so Joe Dunne won.
